Q.

#asktheexpert My daughter is 16 days old now, she was put under phototherapy for a day last week (at day 10) because of jaundice. Her birth weight is 2.74 kg and now she is 2.7kg. What should be her healthy weight? and how much she should gain every week? does putting baby under blue light cause baby to become dark? I observe baby is becoming dark complexion after phototherapy, please advise

A. hi 1.your baby weighs good enough,so please don't get panic. usually babies Gain around 140-170 g per week. please offer plenty of breastfeeds. feed a child on each breast at least 20 minutes so he or she can get full fat hindmilk well which help to increase your child weight. give massage to your child daily 2.yes,after photo therapy ,it is common to get dark complexion but it will alright by the time,so don't worry
