A. It's not uncommon for babies to change their feeding habits after vaccinations, as they may experience temporary discomfort, fatigue, or changes in appetite due to the vaccine. If your baby is only feeding when drowsy and this behavior has continued for more than a week after the vaccination, here are some things you can try: Ensure Comfort: After vaccinations, babies may feel irritable or sore. Check if your baby is uncomfortable due to the injection site or any mild fever. Offering comfort and soothing techniques, such as holding her close, rocking, or gentle pats, can help. Create a Calm Feeding Environment: Sometimes, babies feed better in a calm, quiet environment. Try dimming the lights, eliminating distractions, and offering feeds in a peaceful setting, which might help her focus on eating. Try Different Feeding Positions: Experiment with different positions to see if one is more comfortable for your baby. Some babies may prefer a certain position after vaccination. Offer Smaller, More Frequent Feeds: If your baby is more willing to feed when drowsy, you might want to offer smaller, more frequent feeds rather than waiting for longer gaps between feedings. Check for Other Discomforts: Ensure that your baby isn’t experiencing any other issues like gas, reflux, or a stuffy nose, which might make feeding more difficult. Be Patient: If the behavior started after the vaccination, it could be a temporary reaction, and your baby's feeding habits might return to normal once they fully recover from the side effects of the vaccination. If this pattern continues for more than a week, or if your baby shows signs of not gaining enough weight or is not producing enough wet diapers, it's best to consult your pediatrician to rule out any underlying issues or feeding difficulties.
