Q.

#AskTheExpert My baby was given vaccination on Sept. 30. Till then he was pooping very normally. Twice a day minimum. But after vaccination, right from the next day he did not poop for 8 days continuously. We went to the same doc. who did vaccination for him and he gave dulcoflex tube to be kept in his anus and he pooped the same night. Again after that he did not poop daily and pooped after 7 days. Now it's been 5 days he did not poop. I have 3 queries. 1. Does Vaccination have any connection with pooping and constipation? 2. Is it ok if he poops weekly once since he is exclusively breastfed only? 3. Is there anything we could do to make him poop without any medication?

A. it is not related to vaccination it is totally normal for small children less than 6 months of age not to pass stool for 10 days also. it is also normal if they are passing stool more than 6 or 7 times per day. if the consistency of the stool is Semi solid to solid there is no need to worry about the frequency as well as the colour (the colour can range from yellow brown green to black) of the stool. also straining while passing urine and stool is normal. Do burping for 15 to 20 minutes
