#AskTheExpert My baby was born preterm and is 7 days old now. She is able to latch but unable to suck and take feed. What could be the reason? Is that she is still very weak? The pediatric said she should be fed every 2 hours, perhaps forcefully if required. However, she doesn't feel hungry and when I try to force feed.. She just doesn't open her mouth.

Dr GhouseGuardian of 3 children2 years agoA. yes because pf weakness baby is not sucking properly better to give express replacement for few days. if there is no relief it is advisable to see the doctor for proper examination if there is need for proper investigations also both for diagnosis and treatment
