Dr Vandan H KumarFather of a 7 yr 4 m old boy1 Year agoA. if the consistency of the stool is normal that is semi solid to solid there is no need to worry about the frequency of the stool.
the frequency can vary for 4 to 5 times per day and sometimes the child will not pass stool for few days also.
also do no worry about colour and smell of the stool when stool considstency is semisolid to solid.
you have to meet the dr only if it is totally watery stool or it is hard stool or the child is having pain while passing the stool.
POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 5 m old boy1 Year agoA. For a 6-month-old baby, having bowel movements four to five times a day can still be within the normal range, especially if your baby is transitioning to solids or experiencing changes in their diet. Here are a few considerations:
1. **Diet Changes**: Introducing new foods can increase the frequency of bowel movements as your baby's digestive system adjusts.
2. **Consistency and Color**: As long as the stool is soft and not causing discomfort or diarrhea, frequent bowel movements can be normal. Monitor for any signs of unusual color or consistency.
3. **Hydration**: Ensure your baby is well-hydrated, especially if there are frequent bowel movements.
4. **Consult Your Pediatrician**: If you notice other symptoms like significant discomfort, changes in stool consistency (e.g., very watery or hard), or if your baby seems unwell, it’s best to consult your pediatrician to rule out any underlying issues.
In most cases, frequent bowel movements are normal and part of your baby's developing digestive system.
