#AskTheExpert my baby is having cough and not able sleep ..had fever also ..what should I do..

Cough and Cold needs to be treated only after a proper examination by a doctor after the exact cause is diagnosed.may be infection or allergy.it may not be related to food items but seasonal changes may aggravate the susceptibility to get infected . maintain good immunity of the child with proper diet and supplements. if associated with fever too, calpol can be given three times a day.. give steamto relieve blocked nose and nasoclear drops multiple times. Cough Syrup or nebulization should be given only after a proper evaluation according to the type of cough .self medication may not be so helpful so please consult your doctor once. if the cough is productive you can give brozelet-ls or ambrodil syrup for now only n continue only after doctor's advice.avoid refrigerated items and give simple home-made preparations a required.child may not be interested in food due to altered sensations of taste bud in illness will gradually begin to eat as symptoms resolve.

Dr. Vaibhav jainFather of a 6 yr 2 m old girl4 years agoA. so knw. good sleep helps with brain growth .can do various sleep tricks .make baby sleep in a adequate environment and room temperature . Make baby wear comfortable clothing . Baby should be well fed at sleep time . Can sing a lullaby or play some light music . Can also swing baby in arms gently for easy sleep . Should be no disturbances in sleep .

Dr. Vaibhav jainFather of a 6 yr 2 m old girl4 years agoA. stem. Sneezing and cough cold may be due ti seasonal changes and steam is effective in this . Also can be given as home remedy 2 to 3 times in a day . Asthakind ls can also be given 3 times for coughadn paracetamol for the fever .
