Q.

#AskTheExpert my baby is five months old she is suffering from motions since one week when visited doctor.doctor prescribed Enterogermia twice a day for three days but still motions did not stop .when asked doctor regarding this .. doctor told that we have give the required medicine all you have to do is wait patiently it will take time to recover ..so when will my baby recover

A. Loose motion are most of the time infective where it is associated with fever and vomiting and its known as gastroenteritis where symptomatguic treatment along with management for dehydration is required if loose motions are associated with foul smell mucdous high grade fever than it could be bacterial infection which needs antibiotics treatment

A. Viral diarrhea lasts 5-14 days. Severe diarrhea only occurs on the first 1 or 2 days. But, loose stools can last for 1 to 2 weeks
