#AskTheExpert my baby is constipated since birth.. No medicine giving relief. now taking homeopathy from last 5 months but little bit relief , not much improvement. He passes stool after 3 or 4 days. sometimes its very painful. please suggest , what's the cause of this.

Dr GhouseGuardian of 3 children4 years agoA. baby is 2 years above having constipation Constipation is quite common in babies you have to do modification of food baby will be taking we have to include fibre in the diet of the baby you lot of fruits seasonally available like mango papaya banana and adequate water for the baby to drink

Dr Sameer awadhiyaGuardian of 2 children4 years agoA. Constipation is a problem where there is difficulty in passing the stools and it could be very hard leading to sometimes injury and it becomes a chronic condition in most of the cases if not treated properly .
most important thing is a proper diet with good fibre and plenty of liquids . Also avoidance of food which can aggravate the condition like Banana excess of milk and food with maida and junk .
medications should be given like lactulose or polyethylene glycol but only in guidance with the doctorc.
In emergency situation glycerine suppository or enema is useful.
