#asktheexpert My baby is 6 months old. He gets hiccups very frequently. This is happening since 3-4 months.

ExpertDr.Rasika ThosarPaediatric Intensivist4 years agoA. hi j hiccups may occur due to overfeeding or gases. burp well after. feeds hold upright atleast for 10 to 15 minutes. it will improve eventually. no need to worry you it. make sure baby is feeding well and content

Author of questionGuardian of a 5 yr old boy4 years agoA. I researched more about long hiccups in babies and found that it may be due to GERD or acid reflux. Also I have seen my baby is arching his back during breastfeeding, I initially thought it is just normal but today I found somewhere that it can be symptom of heartburn / GERD. I'm already started taking care of proper interval between feeding sessions etc. But I think my baby needs some medicine to get relief. Please suggest some medicine.
