#asktheexpert my baby is 5 months old and is having fever 101.8 from yesterday at 8 pm I gave him calpol drops 1.0 ml his weight is 7 kg and after that at 12:30 in four hours interval but his fever is not coming down and I have shown to his doctor he said give him calpol drops in four hours interval from yesterday 8 pm till today evening it has been 6 times I am giving him drops will it affect his liver or kidney I am worried because it is shown we should not exceed 4 dose in 24 hours

A. I sir can I give mefanamic acid after giving paracetamol 250 of temperature not decreased and how much gap can I give for both medicine

A. no it is safe. the first medicine will always be paracetamol and it is given according to weight and power of paracetamol medicine you are having. give liquids and easily digestible food and paracetamol should be given only after food. keep the child in cool environment and avoid using woolen clothes when the child is having fever armpit temperature of hundred or more is considered as fever to body sponge to decrease the surface temperature and should be carried out for at least 20 minutes with normal temperature water. higher medicines (ibugesic / meftal-p) whether required or not will be told by the doctor.
