Q.

#AskTheExpert my baby is 4months old and she has a fever for last one week now the body temperature is 97;5 and my baby head is always hot is it normal or I have to consult a doctor

A. Fever is commonly seen in babies and mostly it's viral infection which is very common in children. But if fever is high grade and persisting or assosiated with specific symptoms than other causes should also be ruled out . Antipyretic like paracetamol or ibuprofen or mefenamic acid are usually given to reduce fever . Cold sponging with lukewarm water is also helpful . Doctor consultation vshould bbhe done if symptoms like excessive irritability dullness loss of appetite less urine output is there .

Write Your Answer Here 97.5 is an absolutely normal body temperature it is 99° or more than 99°F is considered fever under the temperature you are not supposed to give any medicine to the child so currently the temperature that you are mentioning is hundred percent normal no medicine is required for that
