A. It’s quite common for babies around 2 to 3 months old to put their fingers in their mouths frequently. This behavior can be attributed to several factors. Firstly, babies explore the world around them using their mouths, and sucking on their fingers is a natural part of this exploration. Additionally, this action can provide comfort and self-soothing, especially if they are teething or experiencing any discomfort in their gums. As babies grow, they often begin to discover their hands and learn how to manipulate objects, leading them to mouth their fingers more often. While this behavior is typically normal, ensure that your baby's hands are clean to reduce the risk of introducing any germs into their mouth. If you have any concerns about excessive sucking or other behaviors, consulting your pediatrician can provide peace of mind and tailored guidance.
