Q.

#AskTheExpert my baby is 1year old.2 months ago she had suffered from loose motion with red colour. now she is ok.is she able now to take cow milk?

A. hi k if you have introduced any new food, skip it for time being. maintain good hydration. curd, buttermilk help in maintaining good intestinal bacteria.  keep a close watch on urine color, hydration, maintain good oral intake.  if child appears drowsy, blood in stools or not feeding well then consult your paediatrician. maintain good hygiene while feeding your baby. hope this helps.

A. Milk and milk products: Milk is to be avoided as the gut enzyme needed to digest milk is washed out in diarrhea. Milk should be avoided for at least 3-4 days even after the loose motions have stopped, till the enzyme is produced adequately again
