Q.

#asktheexpert my baby is 17 days old and is a premie..born on the 33rd week she poops many no of times in a day 6 to 7 times she is on exclusive breast feed..is it ok to poop so many times

A. no need to worry about the frequency and colour of the stool if the consistency of the stool is semi solid to solid. also there cis no need to worry about the smell of the stool if the consistency is normal. you have to meet the doctor if it is watery inconsistency or hard consistency otherwise semi solid to solid stool is normal.g also passing stool after taking food is normal.

A. When a breastfed newborn poops after every feeding during the first few weeks, take it as a good sign – it means they're getting plenty of milk. Even though formula-fed babies may have less frequent bowel movements than breastfed babies, it's normal for them to poop after every feeding as well.
