#asktheexpert my baby is 15 days old... he suffers from hiccups very often..what is the reason?

Dr Vandan H KumarFather of a 7 yr 4 m old boy1 Year agoA. hiccups in children occur due to gas which is present in the stomach.
during the feeding process child takes air along with milk and that air goes inside the stomach which irritates leading to hiccups.
you have to offer feeding as well as do proper burping(for atleast 20 minutes) to decredase this problem and it is a self limiting problem
during hicdcups just give breastfeeding again and keep the child in upright position for burping which will stop the episode

Hiccups are common in babies
it wl stop on its own in some time..
u cn keep the baby in burping position and rub the back and head..
or gv small feed
