#AskTheExpert My baby has fever and cough so I gave her maxtra p syrup 5ml for cough and after 3 hrs I gave calpol 120mg 6ml for fever Is that any harmful or I am going right pls suggest. I am asking bcoz both have paracetamol. whether overdose is not happened na? pls guide

ExpertDr Mahesh PatilPaediatrician4 years agoA. hi your baby is 19 months old now maxtra 5 ml is slightly higher dose see if she gets sleepy after medicine and fever medicine dose looks quite ok .

Firstly you are giving the extra dose. The doses can be calculated according to babies weight if your babies weight is more than 10 KG then you should give 5ML of syrup. But always set the temperature before giving medicine. And if the temperature is below 99° then you should avoid giving medication to the baby
