#asktheexpert My baby girl is having mucus like poop from last 10 days. Her date of birth is 30 August 2023. Is this normal & how many days it will remain?

it is usually present due to the throat mucus / thick saliva as well as respiratory secretions
which pass on from respiratory tract (parts of nasal cavity , oral cavity and throat) to the gastrointestinal tract by swallowing and then comes out through the anal canal mixed with the stool.
it may be present in less quantity durxing regular times and would be in more quantity during allergy as well as cough and cold in the child.
mucus in thxe stool is also associated with gastrointestinal infections as a less constipation as well as indigestion.
treatment is usually given according to the cause
