POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 5 m old boy7 months agoA. It's normal for some babies to go a couple of days without pooping, especially if they are breastfed, as breast milk is highly digestible, and some babies' bodies may absorb almost all the nutrients. However, if your baby is not pooping for 2 days, but there are no signs of constipation (such as hard stools or discomfort), it's usually not a cause for concern.
The sneezing and coughing could be due to several reasons, including:
Newborn reflexes: Babies often sneeze due to their immature respiratory system. It's a natural way for them to clear their nose. Dry air: If the environment is dry, it can irritate their nasal passages, causing sneezing or coughing. Minor Irritation or Mild Cold: Even if there's no obvious cold, slight irritation from dust, allergens, or changes in temperature can cause these symptoms.
If your baby is otherwise feeding well, doesn't seem to be in pain, and isn't showing signs of discomfort with his bowel movements, you can continue monitoring. You can try gentle tummy massages, bicycling his legs, or giving a warm bath to help stimulate bowel movements.
However, if the coughing becomes persistent, severe, or is associated with difficulty breathing or feeding, it’s best to consult your pediatrician for a thorough evaluation. If there are concerns about constipation (such as hard stools or your baby appearing to be in pain), or if the coughing doesn't improve after a few days, seeking medical advice is recommended.
