#asktheexpert my 7 month old baby is having cough since yesterday and chest conjestion too. could i give her steam?

PavithraMom of 2 children4 years agoA. Hello Parent Gretings of the day! Even as a new mom I felt the same situation with my baby 10days back Now she is fine.I taken care of her by giving cold n caught syrup.She had fever so given paracetamol syrup 2days only every day morning and nigjt I have given.And I also followed my granny suggestion like She told me to put some turmeric powder on her head and cover with thamalapaku and I covered wth cap.She cured very soon.Thanks to Granny.And also I followed to given zindathilsmath very very small drop (very very tiny small quantity) mixed with milk and given to her .She gets relaxed that day immediately.Depends upon ur baby condition u can follow if anything requires. But be careful and needs to do under experty supervision. thanks pavithra thanks

Cough along with Cold most of the time is a viral illness and it needs supportive care along with proper hydration. you can give steam inhalation which is very useful . cough needs to be treated with anti allergic and expectorant bronchodilators or antitussives medicine which should be given only after a proper evaluation by the doctor according to the type of cougxh. if fever is there pcaracetamol can be given to reduce the fever and the dose can be repeated after 6 hours again if required .
