#AskTheExpert my 3 year old son has had a cough for 2 weeks. we have tried almost everything, nebulizer, and syrup that the doctor prescribed. now doctor gave levolin syrup. no relief noted. please π suggest what should we do. he cough every Single hour, not able to eat due to cough.

Dr Sameer awadhiyaGuardian of 2 children3 years agoA. Cough along with Cold most of the time is a viral illness and it needs supportive care along with proper hydration. you can give steam inhalation which is very useful .
cough needs to be treated with anti allergic and expectorant bronchodilators or antitussives medicine which should be given only after a proper evaluation by the doctor according to the typbye of cough.
if fever is there paracetamol can bej given to reduce the fever and the dose can be repeated after 6 hours again if required .
