A. It is common for a three-month-old baby to put their hands in their mouth. This behavior is part of their natural development and exploration of their environment. It helps them learn about their bodies and can also be a way for them to self-soothe. However, if your baby is also very cranky and crying a lot, there could be several reasons for this: 1. Teething: At around three months, some babies start teething, which can cause discomfort and lead to increased hand-to-mouth behavior and crankiness. 2. Hunger or Feeding Issues: Ensure your baby is feeding well and getting enough nourishment. Sometimes excessive crying can be a sign of hunger or feeding problems. 3. Discomfort or Illness: Check if your baby might be experiencing discomfort from issues like gas, constipation, or illness. A change in behavior, such as increased crying, could be a sign of discomfort. 4. Overstimulation or Fatigue: Babies can get overstimulated or overtired, which can lead to fussiness and crying. Make sure your baby has a consistent sleep routine and a calm environment. 5. Colic: Some babies experience colic, which is characterized by excessive crying and fussiness, often in the late afternoon or evening. If your baby’s crying is persistent, severe, or accompanied by other symptoms like a fever, rash, or feeding difficulties, it's a good idea to consult a pediatrician. They can help rule out any medical issues and offer guidance on managing your baby's behavior and comfort.
