A. It’s not uncommon for young babies, especially those who are exclusively breastfed, to go several days without passing stool. Breast milk is easily digested, and some babies may go up to a week without a bowel movement. However, if your baby seems uncomfortable, gassy, or shows signs of pain when trying to pass stool, it could be a sign of constipation. Here are some gentle steps you can try: Tummy Massage: Gently massage your baby’s tummy in a clockwise direction to stimulate bowel movement. Bicycle Legs: Move your baby’s legs gently in a bicycling motion while they are on their back to help relieve any gas and encourage a bowel movement. Warm Bath: A warm bath can help relax your baby’s muscles, which may help them pass stool. Check Feeding: Ensure your baby is feeding well, as proper hydration and nutrition play a key role in bowel movements. If your baby still hasn't passed stool after 6 days or shows signs of distress, or if you're concerned, it's important to consult with your pediatrician before giving any medications. They will be able to assess the situation and suggest the appropriate treatment.
