#asktheexpert my 11 month old baby's poop pattern is not set. sometimes she poop once in a day ; next time twice thrice a day and since last few days she has started pooping in the middle the night. Is it normal? or else what can be done for the improvement

Dr Sameer awadhiyaGuardian of 2 children1 Year agoA. Constipation in Babies less than 1 year is very common and more in formula fed babies and also when initially the semi solid food has been started after 6 months .
you can give bonnisan drops and some enzyme preparations in proper dose suggested by doctor and cow's milk should be avoided before 1 year of age . Medications are required but it should be given only in medical supervision .Constipation is usually a very common problem seen in many where the most important causative factor is decrease intake fiber rich diet along with lesser fluid intake.
some food like junk food mostly containing maida and oily food can aggravate such condition.
here the diet modificggation should be tried first followed by medications like lactulose milk of magnesia and muout powder. given only in medical supervision .
