#AskTheExpert #Mamypoko Hi doctor My baby is 5 months old and passes 4-5 times of stool daily. He is on DBF + formula. This kind of pasty stools is since last 1 week, before that he was really passing hard stools. Anything to worry in sudden shift of the consistency of stool?

A. if you are giving only breastfeeding then there is a possibility that slightly loose to semi solid stool may be present intermittently. if you see that it is totally watery and also you are giving outside milk then it is advisable to get the child examined by the doctor to rule out any digestion problem or any infection. need of probiotics (sachet superfloraf gg once a day can be given) and zinc has to be evaluated. in the meantime kindly continue breastfeeding to prevent dehydrationx. you can give ors also if water loss is more if there is blood in the stool then kindly meet the doctor immediately because it can be dysentery also.

A. hi it seems normal mam ,if a child looks happy and active, gains enough weight,take feeds and sleep well then no need to worry about motions frequency and it's texture or color.
