Dr Vandan H KumarFather of a 7 yr 4 m old boy1 Year agoA. due to pressure on one side of the head during sleeping there is flatness / abnormal shape on that side of the head.
no treatment is required for flat head / bumpy head and you will see that by one year to two years of age the flat head will go away as soon as the child begins to sit and later walk.
pillows will not help much in this case so do not worry.
the bones in the skull are elastic so to give space to the growing brain it takes diffgerent shape and when the growth of the brain occurs properly then gradually they will take a normal shape.
at your level you can give different sleeping position to the child. also give tummy time more often which will also decrease the pressure on the back of the head.
RashmiMom of a 11 yr old girl1 Year agoA. So from wherever it is flat you should not make your child sleep on that side and slowly as the age is going to progress the head is going to take it proper shape as it is meant to be but just make sure that you do not make your child sleep on other side keep changing the posture as per the need
