A. It's concerning that your 5-month-old baby hasn't had a bowel movement in 2.5 weeks, especially since infants typically have more regular bowel movements. Here are some considerations: 1. Diet: If your baby is exclusively breastfeeding or formula-feeding, infrequent bowel movements can sometimes be normal, but not usually for this long. If solids have been introduced, certain foods can contribute to constipation. 2. Signs of Discomfort: Watch for signs of discomfort, such as fussiness, straining, or a hard belly. If your baby seems to be in pain, it could indicate a problem. 3. Hydration: As long as your baby is urinating regularly and taking in fluids, that’s a positive sign. 4. Consulting a Pediatrician: It’s best to consult your pediatrician if your baby hasn't pooped for this long. They can provide advice and possibly recommend a gentle solution or treatment if necessary. In the meantime, you can try some gentle tummy massages or bicycle legs to help stimulate bowel movements, but ensure to get professional guidance for any lasting concerns.
