A. At 13 months, your baby is likely transitioning to a more varied diet. Here are some nutritious Indian foods suitable for a 13-month-old: 1. **Khichdi**: This simple and nutritious dish made from rice and lentils is easy to digest. You can add vegetables for added nutrients. 2. **Roti (Chapati) or Paratha**: Soft rotis or parathas with a little ghee or butter are easy for your baby to handle. You can also stuff them with mashed vegetables. 3. **Dosa or Idli**: These South Indian staples are excellent choices. They are soft and can be served with mild chutney or sambar. 4. **Vegetable Upma**: A semolina-based dish with finely chopped vegetables can be a hit with toddlers. 5. **Paneer (Cottage Cheese)**: Paneer dishes like paneer bhurji or a mild paneer curry are good sources of protein and calcium. 6. **Fruit Purees**: Continue offering fruit purees like apple, pear, and banana, which are easy to eat and packed with nutrients. 7. **Poha**: Flatten rice flakes can be made into a mild and easy-to-chew dish with vegetables. 8. **Curd (Yogurt)**: Offer plain yogurt or lassi for their probiotic benefits and ease of consumption. 9. **Mashed Rice and Lentils**: You can continue serving a mix of rice and lentils, along with well-cooked vegetables. 10. **Fruit Pieces**: Introduce small, bite-sized pieces of soft fruits like papaya, watermelon, and mango. 11. **Vegetable Soups**: Homemade vegetable soups with mild flavors can be a good way to introduce a variety of veggies. 12. **Rice and Dal**: A combination of rice and dal with a touch of ghee provides essential nutrients. Remember to cut food into small, bite-sized pieces to minimize choking hazards. Introduce new foods one at a time and watch for any allergic reactions. As always, consult with your pediatrician for guidance on your child's dietary needs and preferences.
