Dr Sameer awadhiyaGuardian of 2 children3 years agoA. Fever is a reaction of the body to different pyrogens released during any Infection. Usually temp more than 99 F is taken as fever .
Mostly in children fever is because of viral infections like flu or RSV where the fever is there for 4-5 days but may persist even upto 2 weeks .
Initially antipyretic like paracetamol is given in a dose of 15 mg / kg/ dose. Can be repeated after 4-6 hrs if needed .
Lukewarm sponge bath can be given as home remedy to decrease fever.
Adequate fluid intake is also beneficial.
Urine output monitoring is necessary to avoid dehydration .Colic in babies may be considered when baby is crying for more than 2 to 3 hours with no other specific reason and in a high pitched cry with arching of the body and flushed face.
There could be many causes for colic in babies like gerd immature digestive system allergies ingulping of aur while feeding and lactose intolerance.
Mothers diet and lifestyle can also be a major factor.
Management could be in form of medicines like probiotics digestive enzymes antiflatulence and some hogrme remedies.
Avoidance of formula milk cow's milk . Cycling manuvours to relieve gas massage and proper burping after each feeding is also helpful .
