#AskTheExpert i read somewhere that ragi shouldn't be the 1st food for 6 months old baby when we start weaning. Is it true or just myth?

A. Yes! Once you decide to start your baby on solids along with fruit purees, you can start giving ragi porridge as well. Most doctors in South India suggest ragi as a first food since it is gluten free and is a least allergenic grain like oats. But care must be taken not to contaminate the ragi flour with flours having gluten in them like wheat or barley.Ragi can be given from 6 months onward, but never as a first food. 🥣 How can we give ragi to babies? A: The easiest way to introduce ragi to babies is with a Sprouted Ragi Porridge. Other options are Moongdal Ragi Porridge and Instant Ragi Porridge.
