Q.

#asktheexpert I have low milk supply, so I used to give my baby formula feed. But now my in laws are forcing me to stop formula and either give my feed alone or supplement the formula feed with cow milk. But baby is losing weight with my feed and with cow milk he’s passing loose motions

A. If you're using formula because you're not producing the amount of milk your baby needs, nurse first. Then, give any pumped milk you have and make up the difference with formula as needed.You can try offering a bottle of prepared formula. If your baby dislikes the taste, use mostly breast milk with a little prepared formula in the bottle, and gradually use more formula and less breast milk.
