#asktheexpert I have issues with constipation for my baby. we have recently changed the formula to similac iq+. does it mean it is not suiting her body?

A. Hello mommy, Yes this might be the reason. Constipation (infrequent and hard bowel movements) is common in formula-fed babies in the first month or so, and is usually due to the large amount of iron in most formulas. It typically resolves after 4-6 weeks of age. Changing baby formula could potentially cause constipation, contributing to abdominal discomfort as the baby's GI system has to adjust to the change, says Dawkins. That's why doctors don't usually suggest changing formula without knowing exactly what's causing symptoms.
