A. On average, babies typically gain about 5 to 7 ounces (140 to 200 grams) per week during the first few months of life. This generally translates to about 1 to 2 pounds (0.5 to 1 kilogram) per month for the first six months. After that, growth rates may vary, but overall, steady weight gain is an important indicator of healthy development during the first year.
