Q.

#asktheexpert I have 16 month kid,he sometime respond to name and sometimes not ,specially while doing some activity he dont respond.He plays hide and seek and when we call his name he come running.He is doing all activities and is happy playfull kid but my only issue is he is not speaking words.He understand but not utterword.He only says mumma and babbles most of the time .Is it normal for kid of 16 months to not respond to his name and not talk

A. the child is one and half years old and if you are concerned about the milestones of the child it would be better if you you ask your doctor regarding this doctor will guide you properly and then accordingly you can decide for the management for this thanks

A. Hello ma’am See most of the time your child is responding to the name so that is not an issue as sometimes they sometimes do not hear and sometimes they ignore because the busy doing some activity but that is not intentional. But if your child is generally not responding to an end then that is definitely not good and sometimes kids take a lot of time to speak so it is normal don’t worry about it but to be on the safer side I would advise you to consult a child specialist
