A. Experiencing a dry mouth and sticky saliva after childbirth is not uncommon, especially in the postpartum period. This can be due to hormonal changes, dehydration, or even stress. To help alleviate the discomfort, you can try the following: 1. Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Dehydration can worsen dry mouth. 2. Use a Humidifier: If the air in your home is dry, using a humidifier can help prevent your mouth from becoming too dry. 3. Saliva Stimulants: Chewing sugar-free gum or sucking on sugar-free candies may help stimulate saliva production. 4. Avoid Caffeine: Caffeine can contribute to dehydration, so it’s good to limit your intake. 5. Mouth Moisturizers: Use a saliva substitute or mouth moisturizer (available over-the-counter) to keep your mouth moist. If these symptoms persist or worsen, it’s a good idea to consult your doctor, as there could be underlying issues like dehydration, medication side effects, or other health concerns.
