A. hair loss in babies is very common and because of many reasons. Because of the withdrawal maternal hormone initial hairfall is there. After birth all the hair of the baby remain in the resting phase and usually by 8 to 12 weeks of age shedding of hairs is there . Hairs will grow back mostly by 3-7 months but a proper quality hair will be there by around 2 years of age. Cradle cap is also a cause for frequent shedding of hairs. along with traction alopecia because of continuous pressure on head in lying position. to resolve the problem of cradle cap you can apply flutivate e cream over the scalp for one week and then discontinue but if the problem persists then you should consult your doctorjut for proper treatment.

A. Newborn hair loss is perfectly normal and nothing to worry about. Babies often lose their hair during the first six months. ... About 5 to 15 percent of hair on the scalp is usually in the resting phase at any one time, but stress, fever, or a hormonal change can cause a large number of hairs to stop growing all at once.
