A. Getting hives (urticaria) after your second delivery could be due to several reasons, including hormonal changes, stress, allergies, or immune system reactions. Since you're only taking Leoscet (Levocetirizine) for relief, it's essential to identify the root cause. Possible Causes of Hives After Delivery 1️⃣ Hormonal Changes After childbirth, your estrogen and progesterone levels fluctuate, which can trigger skin sensitivity and allergic reactions. Some women develop postpartum allergies even if they never had them before. ✅ What to Do? ✔️ Keep track of when hives appear (after eating, stress, or exposure to something). ✔️ Stay hydrated and get enough rest. 2️⃣ Weakened Immune System Pregnancy affects immunity, and post-delivery, your body might react differently to allergens or environmental triggers. Lack of sleep and stress can worsen hives. ✅ What to Do? ✔️ Strengthen immunity with Vitamin C-rich foods (citrus, berries, amla) and probiotics (curd, buttermilk). ✔️ Manage stress through yoga or deep breathing exercises. 3️⃣ Allergic Reactions (Food, Medications, Detergents, or Dust) Certain foods (nuts, eggs, seafood, dairy), medicines, soaps, or detergents could be triggering the reaction. Postpartum hives are common due to new food sensitivities. ✅ What to Do? ✔️ Try an elimination diet – avoid possible triggers and reintroduce them slowly. ✔️ Use mild, fragrance-free soaps and detergents. ✔️ Keep a hive diary to track triggers. 4️⃣ Iron Deficiency or Thyroid Issues Postpartum iron deficiency (anemia) or thyroid imbalance can cause skin issues like hives. If you feel weak, dizzy, or have hair loss, get your thyroid and iron levels tested. ✅ What to Do? ✔️ Eat iron-rich foods (green leafy veggies, jaggery, beetroot). ✔️ Consider a thyroid test (TSH, T3, T4) if symptoms persist. 5️⃣ Autoimmune Response (Postpartum Urticaria) Some women develop chronic urticaria (hives that last for weeks or months) due to an overactive immune system. It might gradually resolve on its own or need further treatment. ✅ What to Do? ✔️ Keep taking Levocetirizine as prescribed. ✔️ Avoid scratching – apply calamine lotion or aloe vera gel for relief. 🚨 When to See a Doctor? ❌ If hives last more than 6 weeks continuously. ❌ If you experience swelling in the face, lips, or breathing issues (seek emergency help). ❌ If antihistamines (Leoscet) are not helping. Have you noticed any pattern in when the hives appear (e.g., after food, stress, or at night)?
