To treat a flat head (plagiocephaly or brachycephaly) in babies, encourage tummy time during awake hours to reduce pressure on the back of the head. Frequently change your baby's head position while sleeping by alternating the direction they face. Hold your baby more often to minimize time spent lying on their back. Use a firm, flat mattress without additional pillows or cushions. If the flatness is significant and persists beyond six months, consult a pediatrician about possible helmet therapy, which helps reshape the skull. Most cases improve naturally as the baby grows and becomes more active.
