#AskTheExpert how much weight gain is necessary for an overweight person (pre pregnancy weight 62 and height 5'1) with gestational diabetes in pregnancy? Doctors please answer...

A. 27 weeks.....and till now gained only 2 kg.....I'm 65 kg now

A. Hello good afternoon !! Generally during pregnancy weight gain around 10-15 kgs is normal . But look after your BMI weight according to height,61 kg for 5'1 is 6-8 kgs excess weight. You didn't mention about pregnancy details (carrying months). Before planning Pregnancy seek your Gynaecologist advice about weight, BMI and if possible control it to 54-55kg by avoiding junk,oily, processed foods, sugar sweets include more water and fluids, fruits and vegetables salads.
