A. For an 8-month-old baby, it's perfectly fine to feed solid foods twice a day and provide formula milk for the rest of the meals. At this stage, babies are still dependent on breast milk or formula for their primary nutrition, but solid foods can be introduced gradually to complement their milk intake. Here’s a general guideline for feeding at 8 months: Solid Foods: Frequency: Two to three times a day. Types of Foods: You can offer a variety of foods like mashed fruits, vegetables, cereals, porridge, scrambled eggs, and small pieces of soft, cooked food. Make sure the food is appropriately cooked and cut to avoid choking hazards. Formula Milk: Frequency: Formula should still be your baby’s main source of nutrition, typically 3-4 feedings per day, depending on your baby’s appetite. Each feeding can be around 180-240 ml (6-8 ounces). Balance: At 8 months, babies may not be eating large portions of solids yet, so continue offering formula to meet their nutritional needs. Gradually increase the amount of solid food as they show more interest in eating. Tips: Watch for signs of hunger, and feed solids after milk feedings, especially if your baby is not very interested in solids yet. Ensure that the solid foods are balanced, containing fruits, vegetables, grains, and proteins. Make mealtime enjoyable, and encourage self-feeding with finger foods if your baby is ready. In summary, feeding solids twice a day and offering formula for the rest of the meals is a common approach for an 8-month-old and is perfectly fine.
