#AskTheExpert How many days does a premature born baby take to have weight gain? Currently my baby boy is 1.024 kgs even after 21 days of his birth. He is born at 28 weeks of gestation with birth weight 1.072 kgs.

SanthoshiMom of a 8 yr 1 m old girl4 years agoA. It's very common in infants. for newbies is common to shed some weight after birth and it applies to almost all babies. They burn calories for crying, having milk, breathing etc..it's quite normal.. They shed around 10-15% of birth weight in first two to three weeks and will slowly regain their weight within a month or two. Slowly they Wil gain weight.
