#asktheexpert hlo sir my baby is now 20 month from 2last week when she is crying she is holdung her breath is it normal?

Dr Vandan H KumarFather of a 7 yr 7 m old boy1 Year agoA. they are also known as breath holding spells which many times occur due to change in behaviour of the child as well as it is commonly associated with iron deficiency anaemia. it is important that you should give iron supplements to the child as well as food rich in iron and during the episode it is important xto move the child away from that environment to a new environment and then divert the child. it is a self limiting problem and will go away in next 2 or 3 months maximum.

Breathe holding spell very common with kids so I would recommend recommend you to consult your doctor for what’s meant to be done they’ll advise you accordingly as a lot of times it could be due to some kind of a deficiency also also so physical assessment would be good for you to go ahead with
