A. Introducing solid foods to a 6-month-old baby is an important milestone. Here are some suitable and nutritious Indian foods to consider: 1. **Rice Cereal (Rice Kanji):** - Start with a simple rice cereal made by boiling rice in water until it becomes soft. Ensure a smooth consistency. 2. **Lentil Soup (Dal Water):** - A mild lentil soup can provide protein. Cook lentils with water and blend to a thin consistency. 3. **Vegetable Purees:** - Start with easily digestible vegetables like carrots, sweet potatoes, and pumpkins. Steam and mash or puree for a smooth texture. 4. **Fruit Purees:** - Offer mashed or pureed fruits like bananas, apples, pears, and cooked and mashed papaya. 5. **Ragi (Finger Millet) Porridge:** - Ragi is a nutritious grain. Cook ragi powder with water or milk to make a porridge. 6. **Suji (Semolina) Porridge:** - Cook suji in water or milk until it thickens. Ensure a soft consistency for easy consumption. 7. **Khichdi:** - Prepare a simple khichdi with rice and moong dal. Gradually introduce mild spices like cumin for flavor. 8. **Yogurt:** - Offer plain yogurt, as it provides probiotics and is a good source of calcium. Remember to introduce one new food at a time, waiting a few days before adding another. Monitor for any signs of allergies or sensitivities. Consult with your pediatrician for personalized advice based on your baby's needs and development.
