asktheexpert# hi meri beti 3.7 month ki h usko bhut jada khansi ho rhi h.kbhi dry kbhi cough k sath.aj to breathe b bhut fast kr rhi.khana b properly nh le rhi. kch tym phle dr.ko b dikhaya bt pura cure nh hui. kya du use esa ki wo thk ho jaye. plz rply

Dr Sameer awadhiyaGuardian of 2 children3 years agoA. Cough along with Cold most of the time is a viral illness and it needs supportive care along with proper hydration. you can give steam inhalation which is very useful .
cough needs to be treated with anti allergic and expectorant bronchodilators or antitussives medicine which should be given only after a proper evaluation by the doctor according to the type of cough.
if fever is there paracetamol can n. be given to reduce the fever and the dose can be repeated after 6 hours again if required .

as a child is breathing fast than usual ,you must consult your pediatrician.
keep your child well hydrated
as a child is 3 year old,give luke warm water in two tbsp quantity every 2 hours
you can give indirect steam.
apply Babyhug rapid relief rub on chest and back of your child
