A. It sounds like your 1-month-old baby has day-night confusion along with possible colic. Many newborns take time to adjust their sleep cycle, but there are ways to help. Why Is Your Baby Crying at Night? 1️⃣ Day-Night Confusion – He sleeps during the day and is awake at night. 2️⃣ Colic (Gas Pain) – If he cries a lot in the evening and pulls his legs up, it might be gas. 3️⃣ Hunger or Overfeeding – Feeding too much or too little can cause discomfort. 4️⃣ Overstimulation – A noisy or bright environment at night can disturb sleep. 5️⃣ Reflux Issues – If he spits up often, acid reflux might be causing discomfort. How to Fix Day-Night Sleep Confusion? ✔ Daytime – Keep the room bright, engage with him, and feed actively. Avoid long naps of more than 2-3 hours. ✔ Nighttime – Keep the room dim, reduce noise, and use a soft lullaby or white noise to create a bedtime routine. ✔ Avoid Playing at Night – If he wakes up, keep interactions low-key to signal that it’s bedtime. ✔ Swaddling & Rocking – A tight swaddle and gentle rocking can help him feel secure. How to Reduce Colic & Gas? 🥄 Burp Well After Every Feed – Hold him upright and gently pat his back. 🍼 Check Feeding Position – Keep his head slightly higher than his stomach. 🚲 Bicycle Exercise – Move his legs in a cycling motion to relieve gas. 💆 Tummy Massage – Use warm coconut oil and massage in circular motions. 🌿 Warm Ajwain (Carom Seed) Potli – Warm a cloth with ajwain, check for warmth, and lightly rub on the tummy. 💨 Keep Him Upright for 20 Minutes After Feeding – Helps prevent reflux. When to Worry? ⚠ If crying lasts more than 3 hours continuously. ⚠ If he refuses to feed or vomits excessively. ⚠ If his tummy is very hard and bloated. ⚠ If he has a fever or is very irritable. This phase is temporary, and by 2-3 months, his sleep should improve. Try these methods, and let me know how he does!
