#AskTheExpert Hi Doctor My now 6th month baby is a premie born in 36th week and weighed 2.1 kg at birth. Now her weight is around 5.75kgs.When can i start solids for her and what type of food should I start with. Thank you in advance.

A. In general solids can be started after the baby completes six months. Since ur child is a preemie u should start solids based on the corrected age of the baby and not the actual age. This means if the baby was born four weeks earlier there will be four weeks delay in the baby's growth, milestones etc., and u have to start solids with a 4 week delay.
