#asktheexpert hi doctor my child poops sometimes redish .what is the reason

A. if the consistency of the stool is normal that is semi solid to solid there is no need to worry about the frequency of the stool. the frequency can vary for 4 to 5 times per day and sometimes the child will not pass stool for few days also.x also do no worry about colour and smell of the stool when stool consistency is semisolid to solid. you have to meet the dr only if it is totally watery stool or it is hxard stool or the child is having pain while passing the stool.

A. hi dear Expect at least 3 bowel movements per day, but may be up to 4-12 for some babies. After this, baby may only poop every few days. Baby will usually pass more stool after starting solids. Newborn will pass meconium by 24-48 hours after birth.
