#AskTheExpert Hi doc, My LO is 29days old. She was fed formula for first 3 days in hospital. When tried for breast feeding she was not accepting. From past 10 days she is breastfeeding with once or twice with formula feed. From past 3 days at night time though she is fed completely from both the breasts she still demands for feed and we will have to give formula. Her sleep has been reduced. She does not sleep for more than 1 hr in stretch. She starts crying. Also she demands feed every 90mins in a day. Is this normal at this week or any suggestions pls.

A. Milk is very important for babies specially in the initial days of life breast milk is very important and should be given exclusively till 5-6 months of age . formula milk should be given only as a substitute to breast milk if due to any reason it is not sufficient to fulfill the demand of the baby. according to the age different stage of formula milk are there like stage 1 till 6 months of age stage 2 from 6 months to 12 months and thereafter stage 3 . after ongfe year cows milk should be started and any kind of health drink powder in milk should be used only after the completion of two years of age .
