#AskTheExpert hello Sir, my son is 3 years and 1 month old. His height is 95 cms and weight is 12.2 Kg. Due to cough and cold for past 1 month he has lost 1.4 kg of weight. could you recommend what should be the diet or any supplement to gain the weight?

Dr Sameer awadhiyaGuardian of 2 children3 years agoA. Cough along with Cold most of the time is a viral illness and it needs supportive care along with proper hydration. you can give steam inhalation which is very useful .
cough needs to be treated with anti allergic and expectorant bronchodilators or antitussives medicine which should be given only after a proper evaluation by the doctor according to the type of cough.
if fever isg there parauucetamol can be given to reduce the fever and the dose can be repeated after 6 hours again if required .
