Dr Sameer awadhiyaGuardian of 2 children2 years agoA. Constipation in Babies less than 1 year is very common and more in formula fed babies and also when initially the semi solid food has been started after 6 months . you can give bonnisan drops and some enzyme preparations in proper dose suggested by doctor and cow's milk should be avoided before 1 year of age . Medications are required but it should be given only in vgbjmedical supervision .

For a 5-year-old child experiencing constipation in India, you can try these home remedies: 1. **Increased Water Intake:** Ensure the child drinks plenty of water throughout the day to stay hydrated, which helps soften stools. 2. **Fiber-Rich Foods:** Include fiber-rich foods in their diet, such as fruits (like papaya, figs, and prunes), vegetables, and whole grains. 3. **Warm Milk with Ghee:** A glass of warm milk with a teaspoon of ghee (clarified butter) before bedtime can sometimes help with bowel movements. 4. **Triphala Powder:** Triphala is an Ayurvedic herbal remedy that may aid in digestion. Consult with a healthcare professional before using it for a child. 5. **Physical Activity:** Encourage regular physical activity as it can promote healthy bowel movements. 6. **Probiotics:** Probiotics, found in yogurt or as supplements, can help maintain a healthy balance of gut bacteria. If constipation persists or worsens, it's crucial to consult with a pediatrician for proper evaluation and guidance tailored to your child's specific situation.
