#AskTheExpert hello sir my daughter 12 month old have started giving her cow milk with 4 %fat do I need to add water in it have noticed since I started cow milk she is passing hard motion

A. Cow's milk should be given to the baby only after completion of 1 year of age because the protein and fat in cow's milk is hard to digest before that and many a times there could be cow's milk protein allergy in babies and lactose intolerance which could be severe sometimes. Also early introdtuction of cows milk can lead to iron deficiency anemia as cow's milk lacks iron and vit c . Also there could be micro bleeding in intestine becaguse of the heavy protein of cow's milk .

A. Its Not because of cows milk so what are you do it as of now if you have a doubt about that take 80% of milk and 20% of water dilute it properly and then you give it to the child then it is not going to cause constipation maybe the direct Milk your child is unable to digest quickly
